This deck is made of pressure treated lumber. It has a separate deck below to support
the hot tub with an internal railing to keep the kids away from the hot tub area. I also
installed a shadow box railing on the side closest to the neighbor for privacy.
The deck pictured above has to be one of the prettiest decks I have ever built. It is simple, yet elegant. A pressure
treated frame, topped & wrapped with "D" select Western Red Cedar. Code allowed us to install cedar benches &
tables in place of a railing. It has wrap around stairs that lead to a slate patio.
Here I
replaced
the
narrow,
cold metal
deck with
a larger,
warm,
natural,
wooden
deck.
Then
dressed
the bottom
with
hinged,
pressure
treated
lattice.
This deck has it all. It is 10 feet above ground on stucco'd. solid concrete piers and framed with
pressure treated lumber. It is topped with Trex, wood grain, composite decking, that is attached
with Tiger Claw hidden fasteners. The 2 tone decking and railing ad a nice touch and blend well in
this natural environment. There are 2 matching decks on either side of the 3rd floor Solarium and
a walk way on the main level that leads to a matching service deck on the blind side of the picture.
